Boy or Girl?

Nope, we don't know what we are having. In fact we are still trying to decide if we are even going to find out. But, I am posting this because I have been hearing so many funny ideas on how to tell what you are having and had to share!

~First of all, the penny test. You hold a penny by a string and have it hang over your wrist. If it turns in a circular motion it is a girl. If the penny goes back and forth you are having a boy. My friend Sarah tried this highly scientific theory out on me while at work. You know, when it was slow for like 2 minutes. The results - a GIRL

~Next, there is holding a ring above your belly with the same movements to watch for as above. I did this while bored one day when the kids were napping. The results - a BOY

~Now I was curious to see if there were any other crazy theories out there and googled "Finding out Gender of Baby" The results had me laughing out loud. There were a few quiz's that asked questions like, are you craving salt or sweet food, has your significant other gained weight, is the hair on your legs long and soft or course and prickly? Seriously!!! It was so funny! The results - a BOY

~There are more well known things such as are you carrying the baby high (girl) or low (boy). I have never been able to predict this one. Being pretty short, I also have one of the shortest torsos in the world. When I am pregnant, I carry only one way. Big and straight out!

~I have heard if you have a little bit of morning sickness it is a boy, but if you are very sick it is a girl. I have had morning sickness with all 4, haven't noticed a difference with the gender.

~The heart beat test. On the Internet it said this is an old wives tale that will not die off. This one has actually been fairly right with the other three. Em and Savannah always had a heart rate in the 160's and Brett in the 140's. But, they say there is no proof in it. Last appointment baby heart beat was 155. The result - a GIRL

~Then there is something about bleach or Drain-o mixing it with your pee to see what the color ends up being. I will admit, this is one I have not tried. Peeing in a cup and then adding Drain-O sounds like a chemistry experiment gone bad. Have any of you out there tried it?

~Then there is one that claims to be 98% correct in the results, the Chinese Calendar. This was apparently found ages ago and is found to be very accurate in knowing what you are going to have by looking at the month you conceived and cross referencing it with how old you were when you conceived. I figured out all of my kids, Em was supposed to be a boy but the other two were accurate. For this little baby, the result: a GIRL

There are a ton of other things out there, what are some you have heard of and have they been right for you? I just got such a laugh out of all of them and even the most accurate, an ultrasound can be wrong at times. My mom who works in Labor and Delivery has seen this happen more often than you would think. I guess the only real way to know is when the baby comes out and you can have a look for yourself. :)

Heber Valley Train Ride

Way back in July we went to the Meeks family reunion and got 4 tickets to ride the train. The other day Mike and I both looked at the tickets and realized they expire next week! Luckily, we were able to go ride it today!

The kids were so excited when we told them we were going to go on a train ride!

This is the train car we were in. They have a few different choices and we went on the Lakeside ride, it went past Soldiers Hollow and then past Deer Creek Reservoir. It was 2 hours round trip.

Brett loved it, although he kept asking me if it was going to go fast like the train on Polar Express, and where were all the animals? The only wild life we saw was a hawk or something on the ice. But afterward he told Mike and I it was one of the best days.

Emily loved the ride too, she and Brett had fun sitting in different seats, and of course the snacks were the highlight of the trip! Especially since she got Nachos, her favorite!

Savannah wasn't too sure of the ride at first, but toward the end was laughing and playing.

That was after she enjoyed some cuddle time with Dad.

It was a great day!

Savannah's party

We had Savannah's party on last Sunday, and of course Mike made another yummy cake! It was a raspberry cake - doesn't it look cute?

Such a big girl!

I think Emily was more excited than Savannah at the gift opening.
Mike and I got her this monkey that claps its hands and makes monkey noises. Yep, she was super scared of it. She still is, right now it is hiding in our closet so she doesn't have to see it. Oh well!

Big thank you to Mike for making the cake, and for also being in charge of the party. Unfortunately, I caught the 24 hour stomach flu that Em and Brett had earlier in the week and couldn't go. Seriously, you should not be able to get the flu when you are already dealing with morning sickness! It was a bad day. Mike had made the cake the night before it hit, and we decided to still have the party. Another big thanks to my parents who let everyone come to their house for the party. I really appreciate it. I just wish I could have been there. Happy Birthday sweet little girl, I love you more than you will ever know and I am so grateful to have you in my life.

Savannah is 2!

Yep, my baby is now 2! I can hardly believe it. Her Birthday was on January 2nd and we decided to take the kids to the Myan to celebrate. We haven't been there for a long time. The food is so - so, but the entertainment was awesome! We had front row seats for the show.
This is Savannah looking up at the cliff divers, it is the expression she had on her face the entire time. I think she was a little concerned about what they were doing!
We ordered a Pina Colada Smoothie for her and she slurped it right up! It was a really fun day.

Christmas

Every year I make Christmas dresses for my kids. I make them with my sisters, and a ton of help from my mom. These are not the dresses I made, these are some that Mike got at Costco for them. I didn't take any of them in their other dresses. I will get some copies from my sister and post them later. But, I thought they looked so cute in these!
This year we decided to have Christmas Eve just our little family. I always loved doing this growing up, and it was fun to make dinner, sing songs and read stories. We had a great time.

Mike made Prime Rib for dinner. Believe it or not, Em ate most of this huge slab of meat! Crazy girl!

Of course, everyone got new jammies on Christmas Eve! The kids set out the cookies they had made at Grandma's house the day before for Santa and some fruit for the reindeer. Emily also made some really cute pictures and wrote Santa a note thanking him for all the presents.

Here we are about to come downstairs and see what Santa left us! It was a really fun Christmas, I just can't believe it is already over!
